Phil Lesh to Recreate Two Grateful Dead Shows at The Capitol Theatre

October 27, 2015

Just over a week after announcing some cancelled shows due to a cancer diagnosis, Phil Lesh has revealed his plans for his upcoming shows at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY. Following a Halloween run on October 30 and 31, Phil Lesh and Friends plan to recreate two iconic Grateful Dead shows for their performances on November 1 and 5.

First up is the 30th anniversary of the Dead’s 11/1/85 show at Richmond Coliseum in Virginia. Guitarist Scott Metzger of Joe Russo’s Almost Dead will help Lesh recreate the show, which was released on Dick’s Picks Vol. 21 and includes songs like “Stagger Lee,” “Comes a Time” and Bob Dylan’s “She Belongs To Me.”

On November 5, Lesh will dust off the setlist from the band’s 2/19/71 performance at The Capitol Theatre, which was featured on Three From the Vault. The concert included the debuts of “Bird Song” and “Deal.”
