Songhoy Blues is from Timbuktu, Mali. The group formed in the nation’s capital of Bamako after they were forced to leave Timbuktu when Islamic extremists began enforcing a ban on cigarettes, alcohol and music. Their second album, Résistance will be released on June 16 and is now available for pre-order. Here they perform a selection from their debut record, Music in Exile.
