Not unlike SUSS’ toothsome blend of country and ambience, two other famously great flavors complement one another deliciously on Jyotsna Srikanth, Mats Edén, Dan Svensson, and Pär Moberg’s rollicking Nordic Raga. The Carnatic (South Indian) violinist-vocalist Srikanth supplies the secret improvisational sauce here alongside a trio of Swedish folk adepts. In addition to the Carnatic showcase “Folk Dreams,” the quartet jigs and polkas with gusto. You will only be disappointed if you, like I, continuously misread the title as Nordic Reggae.
