An Ass-Shaking Good Time

“I’m not scared of that word,” Get Right Band guitarist Silas Durocher says when asked if his three-piece Asheville, N.C., outfit is a jamband. “I know a lot of people are afraid of that word. I would say the big thing about this band is that it’s different every night.” Durocher and his bandmates, bassist Jesse
Gentry and drummer JC Mears, draw on their inspirations for their sophomore effort, Bass Treble Angel Devil. “We pretty much consider ourselves a part of the movement of bands like The Black Keys and Alabama Shakes—groups who are carrying the torch of Zeppelin and Hendrix,” he says. However,
don’t let the rock comparisons move you to pigeonhole the band—Durocher and The Get Right guys also have deep roots in the funk world. “Funk is really where we started, going back to middle school with Jesse. We’re all about the ass-shaking good time, and there’s nothing like funk to do that,” he says. What can fans expect from The Get Right Band in the future? Durocher jokes, “Our goal is total world domination.”
