Yoko Ono Producing New Movie on Relationship with John Lennon

Yoko Ono will team with producer Michael De Luca and more to create a new biopic chronicling her relationship with late Beatle John Lennon, with whom she formed a legendary relationship in the ’60s until Lennon’s assassination in 1980 in New York City.

Also included in the movie’s team, as Deadline notes, are write Anthony McCarten, who wrote the recent Stephen Hawking biopic The Theory of Everything, and producer Josh Bratman.

“The story will focus on ripe and relevant themes of love, courage and activism in the U.S.–with the intention of inspiring today’s youth to stand up for and have a clear vision for the world they want,” says De Luca, who has also worked as producer for The Social Network, Moneyball and more.

Ono and Lennon’s relationship became a global phenomenon before and after Lennon’s death, as their political and musical endeavors were broadcast worldwide, along with the rumored coincidental decline of The Beatles. The couple had one son together, Claypool Lennon Delirium’s Sean Ono Lennon.
