Upright Man came together when Aidan Dolan (guitar/vocals), Nick Katz (bass/vocals) and Max Yassky (drums/percussion/background vocals) met while studying classical music composition at New York University. The trio blends psychedelic, alternative and classic rock sounds, drawing on such influences as Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Led Zeppelin and XTC. The band’s will celebrate their new album with a release show this Sunday, December 17 at Mercury Lounge and today we premiere the video for their song “Ecstasy.”

Dolan tells Relix, “Our short but epic makeshift sci-fi journey is a determined journey born of sadness and filled with absurd technologies, space travel, and inevitable chillin’.”

Yassky adds, “Don’t be silly, of course it’s not a biopic. It’s just a retelling of the age old story about two robot friends helping their dying commander to fly his seemingly dead lover into the stars.”

Finally, Katz offers, “Get ready cause we’re taking you suckers to da moooon!!! No seriously. This shit is in space and I’m so hype. First of all NASA is the shit. Second of all we in space. Please tell me what more you need to know!?”
