On Roots of Creation’s latest studio album, Grateful Dub the group offers interpretations of Grateful Dead compositions in a reggae dub style. Roots of Creation enlisted Errol Brown (Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Rebelution) to record, mix and co-produce the record. The band then took to the road on its Grateful Dub 2018 Tour to present these takes on the songs. Today we share a live version of “Sugaree” from Jerry Jam with special guests Melvin Seals and Scott Guberman.

Roots of Creation’s Tal Pearson reflects on sharing the stage with two notable fellow keyboard players: “It was such a treat to have Melvin Seals and Scott Guberman jammin’ on this song with us. They added that extra bit of flavor that makes this live version from Jerry Jam really special. Melvin brings that trademark soulful Hammond B3 sound and Scott adds the perfect layer of honky tonk blues that makes the tune ride extra smooth.”
