Video Premiere: “Ramble On Rose” from the Grateful Dead Meet-Up at the Movies (7/7/89)

July 25, 2018

On Aug. 1, more than 500 multiplexes around America will host the 8th Annual Grateful Dead Meet-Up at the Movies.

This year’s cinematic concert experience will showcase the band’s July 7, 1989 performance at Philadelphia’s JFK Stadium. Famous for its emotional “Blow Away” led by keyboardist Brent Mydland as well as its closing “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door” (which was the last song ever performed at the aging venue), this 1989 performance sees the Dead in a late-era peak.

“For nearly a decade now, fans have looked forward to the summer to get together with ‘family’ in movie theaters across the nation for the annual ‘meet-up,’” Fathom Events CEO Ray Nutt said. “We’re proud to partner with Rhino again this year to bring this special event, featuring one of America’s most treasured rock bands, to some of the world’s most devoted fans.”

Today, we are premiering a newly restored, edited and color-corrected clip of “Ramble On Rose” from 7/7/89. It features a brand new audio/video mix, and acts as just a taste of the cinematic scale of Meet-Up at the Movies.
