Trummors Share Tracklisting, “Spanish Peaks” Video from _Headlands_

April 14, 2017

Trummors will release Headlands, their third album on May 12. The folk duo enlisted Kevin Barker (Vetiver, Fruit Bats) to produce the record, while Jarvis Taveniere (Woods, Real Estate) recorded and mixed it. Guest musicians include Dan Horne (Cass McCombs, Circles Around the Sun) on pedal steel and Kyle Forester (Crystal Stilts, Woods) on piano and saxophone.

Trummors is the project of Taos, NM-based musicians Dave Lerner and Anne Cunningham. Lerner who appeared with Ted Leo & the Pharmacists for many years, plays guitar and sings, while Cunningham also contributes vocals along with harmonium.

Today we premiere their official video for “Spanish Peaks” from Headlands. The band tells Relix, “We wrote this record soon after moving from NY to Taos, NM. Naturally, our new digs and location were a big inspiration, particularly on “Spanish Peaks.” That song came about after our car broke down right in front of those mountains en route to Denver. As the songs came together, the American archetype of westward migration became an organizing theme. John Steinbeck’s writing, especially The Grapes of Wrath, was a key influence as well. Many of the places referenced throughout the record are along the old Route 66 passing through New Mexico on the way to California–a route that we traverse often. The title Headlands seemed to fit our experience of travel between these different mountain, desert, and coastal spots. Our friends Amy Ruhl and Chad Laird’s meditative and dreamy video for ‘Spanish Peaks’ captures much of that landscape, while complimenting the sonic vibe of the tune.”

The tracklist appears below the video. Headlands is now available for pre-order.
