Song Premiere: T. Hardy Morris “Stage Names”

May 30, 2018

The new record from T. Hardy Morris, Dude, The Obscure, will be released on June 22. While this is the follow-up to his 2015 album Hardy & the Hardknocks: Drownin’ on a Mountaintop, Dude, The Obscure harkens back to the haunting, atmospheric debut from the Diamond Rugs and Dead Confederate member. Adam Landry (Deer Tick, Lilly Hiatt) produced the forthcoming 11-song set, which is now available for pre-order via New West Records.

Today we premiere “Stage Names” from Dude, The Obscure. Morris tells Relix, “The song is a rumination on where talent and inspiration goes when an artist passes on. I guess it’s held within the art they’ve created but perhaps beyond that, the remainder is floating around in the ether and lands upon others and that becomes the new art / inspiration? Who knows, but I was thinking about this after we had lost a few Athens artists and musicians too soon and I was just wondering where all that talent goes?”
