Song Premiere: Let’s Danza! “Moneyhook”

April 17, 2018

Tom McKee and Clay Parnell, both former members of Brothers Past, are the main force behind Philadelphia-based electro-synth-rock outfit Let’s Danza! So far, the group has been pairing the keyboard-and-bass duo with a second keyboardist, Ian McGuire, and a rotating cast of drummers for their live set, but today we premiere the first-ever studio track from Let’s Danza!, “Moneyhook.”

“The song is meant be sort of a commentary on the inevitable arc of fame,” McKee says of the single, which features drummer Chuck Treece and additional synths from McGuire. “It was a very satisfying thing to create, because Clay and I took the track from its inception to completion. We took a lot of the skills that we’ve learned over the years by watching and working with other people, and we set out to do it ourselves. It took a long time. There was a lot of trial and error involved, but when you finish, it feels like you’ve kind of moved the needle a bit. That’s really what you’re hoping for when you set out to create something, that you’ll come out of it on the other side with some kind of evolution as an artist.”

Let’s Danza! will be supporting The Disco Biscuits at their upcoming show at The Fillmore in Philadelphia on April 19 and will also appear at this summer’s Camp Bisco, set for July 12–14 in Scranton, PA,
