Robert Plant Did Not Turn Down $800 Million to Reunite Led Zeppelin

November 12, 2014

Earlier in the week we told you about a report from British tabloid The Mirror, who claimed that Robert Plant was offered upwards of $800 million to reunite Led Zeppelin. Now, both Plant and Richard Branson, the Virgin tycoon who reportedly offered the deal, have come forward to say that the report is completely false. There was never an offer made in the first place.

Plant’s spokeman, Ken Weinstein, told the Associated Press that the singer “has not been in receipt of any offers in recent months.” Meanwhile, Branson took to his blog with a post appropriately titled “Dazed and Confused.” In it, Branson says “there is absolutely no truth to the story.”

“I spoke to Robert Plant about the story, which he also confirmed is complete rubbish from his side too. Robert told me he is very proud of his history and the band’s past, and has always had great respect and love for his work throughout his career. However, he really believes he must move on with his life and career today,” Branson also added. “Making up this story is very disrespectful to how wonderful his solo career with the Sensational Space Shifters is going. He is setting out on a sold out tour today and they released a brilliant album last year.”
