Prince Autopsy Reportedly Finds Painkillers in His System

May 5, 2016

The Minneapolis Star Tribune is reporting that sources have revealed some details from the autopsy of legendary musician Prince, who passed away at his Minnesota home late last month (via Reuters), including finding traces of the painkiller Percocet.

Prince reportedly had to make an emergency landing during a flight home from Atlanta in the week prior to his death, and he was supposedly set to meet with a drug addiction doctor the day after his passing, fueling speculation that he may have succumbed to an overdose of prescribed painkillers. The autopsy reportedly also found that the musician had a dangerously low red blood cell count, pointing to an illness. Representatives for Prince initially reported that the emergency plane landing was due to flu symptoms.

The cause of Prince’s death remains unclear, with a toxicology report, which could take weeks, still being processed.
