The Travelin’ McCourys Preview “Borderline” from Forthcoming Album

March 16, 2018

On May 25, The Travelin’ McCourys will release their debut studio album. As Ronnie McCoury explains, “The album definitely shows what we’ve evolved into as a band. With the jamband movement these days, it’s a pretty good representation of what’s happening with the whole genre. The old standard bluegrass material is something I love, but it’s already been done many times. We’re forging ahead with our own sound. That’s what you have to do to make it all work.”

Today we premiere their official live video for ‘Borderline” from the forthcoming record. Ronnie McCoury notes that the song is “from one of my favorite writers, David Francey. I always liked his recording and arrangement of this song. I always found it to be a little haunting — it’s about a guy who has to travel to make his pay…I can relate!”

Tonight the band will perform with Jeff Austin at The Grateful Ball in Fairfield, Iowa in which each group will perform a set and then they’ll join forces for a set of Grateful Dead material. The Travelin’ McCourys upcoming dates can be found here.
