Premiere: Howlin Rain Shares New Song, Announces Tour

April 25, 2018

On June 8 Silver Current Records will release Howlin Rain’s new record, Alligator Bride. Bandleader Ethan Miller explains, “The guiding principle for The Alligator Bride was to create ‘Neal Cassady Rock.’ Which is to say, high energy, good-times adventure music, driving the hippie bus, shirtless and stoned, up for four days straight, and extremely fuzzy around the edges.” As with 2016’s Mansion Songs, the group workedat the Mansion in San Francisco (for what will be the second release in a Mansion trilogy). All of the tracks on Alligator Bride were recorded live to tape by the quartet, which will support the album with a series of dates listed below.

Today we premiere the second single from the album, “The Wild Boys.” Miller tells Relix, “’The Wild Boys’ is my homage to the novel of the same name by William S. Burroughs and to the writer himself. There is little that we find astonishing about the present American landscape in all its chaos and turmoil that wasn’t uttered in a fearsome, frothing monotone of absolute contempt by Burroughs a long, long time ago. Musically, I wanted to reflect that sentiment by having the song start like a lullaby and end like a hornets nest had been knocked over at the Queen’s Sunday brunch.” Alligator Bride is now available for pre-order.
