Phish Confirm Madison Square Garden Run for New Year’s

September 27, 2016

Phish have officially confirmed their return to New York’s Madison Square Garden to ring in 2017 with a four-night run at the famed venue for the second year in a row, kicking off on December 28 and rounding out with a New Year’s Eve performance on December 31.

The band played New Year’s at MSG last year, welcoming 2016 with a third set that saw the band start out in an hourglass structure in the middle of the Garden floor while playing “No Men in No Man’s Land” which eventually led into “Blaze On” (after the traditional “Auld Lang Syne”). Both tunes will appear on Phish’s new album, Big Boat, which is due out October 7, and the band shared the studio version of the latter song earlier today. Watch the full third set from last year’s NYE show below.

Phish first played a year-ending run at MSG to ring in 1995 and have returned several times throughout the ensuing years, including in ’97 and ’98, for their hiatus comeback in 2002 and for four straight years in the 3.0 era from 2010-2013. The band has played 35 shows to date at the venue, the most for any venue outside their home state of Vermont.

A ticketing lottery is now live here. The deadline to request tickets is October 10 at 12pm ET, and a public on-sale will begin October 14 at Ticketmaster. Travel packages will also be available beginning October 13 here.
