Foo Fighters to Release _Sonic Highways_ on November 10

August 11, 2014

The big announcement that was promised by the Foo Fighters has arrived–the band will release their eighth studio album, Sonic Highways, on November 10 via Roswell Records. The band has also released a teaser video and the full tracklist for the eight-song record which will serve as the follow up to 2011’s Wasting Light.

As previously reported, the band visited eight studios across the country including noted stops at Rancho de Luna in California, Inner Ear Studios in Washington D.C., Electrical Audio in Chicago and more. In a press release, Dave Grohl said, “This album is instantly recognizable as a Foo Fighters record, but there’s something deeper and more musical to it. I think that these cities and these people influenced us to stretch out and explore new territory, without losing our ‘sound’.”

In addition to the new album, the making of Sonic Highways will be chronicled through a series on HBO set to air October 17. The mini-series will document the band’s travels to each city and profile each of the famed studios they recorded in throughout the process.

Pre-orders for the album are currently ongoing via the Foo Fighters website. The vinyl album comes in an assortment of nine different covers including eight variants each themed for one of the cities in which the album was recorded: Austin, Chicago, Los Angeles, Nashville, New Orleans, New York, Seattle and Washington, D.C..
