Foo Fighters: “For the millionth time, we’re not breaking up”

March 3, 2016

Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Pat Smear, Nate Mendel and Chris Shiflett made it official today: They are not breaking up.

After rumors swirled that the band might be taking an extended hiatus due to some in-fighting after a report that Dave Grohl was looking to branch off from the group to explore a solo career, the band responded by saying that an official announcement would come tonight.

That announcement came in the form of a 8-minute parody of Grohl’s solo career and what the rest of the Foos would do in the singer’s absence. The video begins with press clippings of the group’s rumored demise, along with a clip of Taylor Hawkins saying that the band needs “a break.”

The video, which features the group jokingly discussing replacement singers (Bieber, Prince, Diplo all suggested before they ultimately settled on Nick Lachey) and Grohl recording his fake solo album with producer Butch Vig, closes with the message, “For the millionth time, we’re not breaking up and nobody’s going fucking solo.
