Chris Cornell Passes Away at 52

May 18, 2017

Chris Cornell, the frontman of legendary rock band Soundgarden, passed away overnight in Detroit. He was 52.

Cornell's death is reportedly "sudden and unexpected" and police say they are investigating a possible suicide according to the Associated Press.

The singer was on tour with Soundgarden as the band just wrapped up a show earlier that night. Cornell is best known for his work with Soundgarden and leading the famed "grunge" movement of the 90s in Seattle along with Pearl Jam. Some of Cornell's other notable work includes Temple of the Dog, a supergroup formed with the members of Pearl Jam in the wake of Mother Love Bone frontman Andy Wood's death. He also carved out a successful solo career, releasing a number of solo records including 2015's Higher Truth

This is a developing story.
