Bob Weir and RatDog Announce 2014 Dates (with Two Bass Players)

November 14, 2013

Bob Weir will reunite RatDog in 2014 for the first full tour since 2009. The band has played sporadically throughout the last four years, including most recently at the Peach Music Festival in Scranton, PA this August. The 23-show jaunt across the country will start with a pair of two-night runs in Philadelphia, PA and Washington, DC before the band settles in with multiple stops through the Northeast as well as the Midwest.

Notable shows during the run include a two-night stand at Port Chester’s Capitol Theater, as well as Midwest stops in St. Louis, Chicago and Milwaukee before the tour wraps up with a pair of Southern shows in Nashville, TN and the tour finale at the famed Tabernacle in Atlanta, GA.

On this tour, Weir will be joined once again by original members Rob Wasserman (who left RatDog in 2002 and reunited with the group during a three show run in 2010) and Jay Lane along with longtime keyboardist Jeff Chimenti, guitarist Steve Kimock and bassist Robin Sylvester (who joined the group in 2003 and will share duties with Wasserman).

In September, Weir’s project along with former Grateful Dead bandmate Phil Lesh, Furthur revealed they would take 2014 off. Following Lesh’s announcement of a deal with Capitol Theater and Brooklyn Bowl owner Peter Shapiro, both Lesh and Weir now have solidified plans for 2014.
