In our recent feature on Shovels & Rope, which is comprised of married couple Cary Ann Hearst and Michael Trent, we noted that their latest record, Little Seeds, represents “a change of pace from their traditional character sketches, this album is deeply personal and emotional. Its songs touch on a number of recent events in their lives—from learning of Hearst’s pregnancy to caring for Trent’s ailing father, losing loved ones, traveling the country and working together in a family band. ” Here, Shovels & Rope, who are currently on tour, share a few songs from Little Seeds, live at Relix.
