Rock on the Range Will Honor Chris Cornell
May 18, 2017
In the wake of iconic rock singer Chris Cornell’s tragic death overnight, Columbus, OH’s Rock on the Range festival, which is set for this weekend and was supposed to feature a headlining set from Cornell’s Soundgarden tomorrow night, has announced it will honor Cornell throughout the three-day event.
As Billboard reports, Rock on the Range posted a message saying they were “devastated” by the news of Cornell’s death, calling him “a true hero to music, the voice of a generation.” The note also promises that the festival will “celebrate and honor him all weekend long.” The festival later added that more details on the schedule and possible tributes will be released when available.
Another festival that Soundgarden was slotted to headline, Pryor, OK’s Rocklahoma, has also commented on Cornell’s passing, calling him “a true musical legend that will be missed more than words can express,” but has not released any word on the festival’s schedule, which will take place later this month.
