Police Suggest You Bring “Dummy Wallets” to Coachella To Avoid All the Burglary
Yesterday we told you about a Coachella attendee who was fed up with all the selfies and decided to take matters into his own hands, and now Indio police are making sure a repeat doesn’t happen during the second weekend.
A press release put out by the Indio PD reminds people to take extra caution with their valuables, especially in crowded spaces blah blah blah. Essentially “please don’t wave your $800 iPhone in the air all willy nilly because some people like to steal.”
The PD also offers up some tips, including front-pocketing your items (this should always be the case) and also taking a dummy wallet to fool the burglars lurking around you. “As most thieves will not look for another once they have found the first one. This can also work with a dummy old phone,” the release read. I greatly look forward to next week’s headline: “Man Steals 100 Dummy Wallets at Coachella.”
Jason Isbell was also amused by the suggestion.
Police also suggest attending the festival with a “dummy” friend, i.e. one who repeatedly mentions H.O.R.D.E. ’96, also to confuse thieves pic.twitter.com/EE6DkF7WOd
