Pearl Jam highlighted their headlining set at Pemberton Festival in Canada with a cover of Suicide’s “Dream Baby Dream” played in honor of Alan Vega, who passed away at the age of 78 on July 16. Vega fronted the pioneer punk group along with Martin Rev for three decades. 

The song, a debut for Pearl Jam, was also famously covered and recorded by Bruce Springsteen for his High Hopes record released in 2014. 

Among the other highlights from Pearl Jam’s 27-song set included just the 12th version of “Of the Earth” ever, with the song last being played with Jack White at Third Man Records. The band also peppered in many of their hits, opening with “Release” and rolling through tunes like “Once,” “Spin the Black Circle,” “Given to Fly,” “Corduroy” and a host of others on their way to a festival-closing set. 

Pearl Jam’s tour continues August 5 at Boston’s Fenway Park.
