My Morning Jacket’s Jim James will bring his solo band to Newport Folk Festival this summer as the frontman joins the Saturday lineup that includes previously announced acts The Avett Brothers, Drive-By Truckers, Angel Olsen, Nikki Lane and more. 

The announcement comes shortly after Newport added James’ My Morning Jacket bandmate Carl Broemel was added to the lineup with his respective solo act. While the full band is not scheduled to play the fest, over the years the various members have had involvement in the music including backing Roger Waters and Ray LaMontagne in recent years. Also this summer, James will bring his solo band to the 50th anniversary of Monterey International Pop Festival as well as Lockn’ in late August.
