Harris Wittels to be Honored with Festival Including Phish Cover Band

April 12, 2017

Harris Wittels, the late Parks and Recreation writer and executive producer, will be remembered with a festival in his name as Harris Phest will take place on April 20, what would’ve been his 33rd birthday.

As we reported in March,  the one-day event will take place at Houston’s 8th Wonder Brewery and will include an ode to Wittels’ favorite band (and a group he referenced numerous times on Parks and Recreation) Phish with a performance from A Live One. There will also be a Humblebraggot beer (a term coined by Wittels)

“It’s easy to be sad about Harris no longer being with us,” Stephanie Wittels Wachs, Harris’ sister, told EW. “But the fact remains that Harris didn’t make people said. He made people laugh, smile and relish in being alive. So on his birthday, we want to celebrate him.”

All proceeds from the event will go toward the Harris Wittels Fund, which gives scholarships to graduates of his alma mater.
