Allow us to introduce you to Fyre Festival, a luxurious destination event in the Bahamas that’ll run you somewhere between $4,000 and $12,000. The all-inclusive event includes a flight from Miami to the Bahamas, beautiful accommodations and music from Blink-182 (who cancelled their set yesterday), Disclosure, Ja Rule and others.

That was then, and this is very much the reality of it as reports on the ground suggest that Fyre Festival is a complete logistical shitshow that’s left many stranded both in Miami and the Bahamas.  

The Twitter account @FyreFraud has been documenting this mess for the better part of a month and the images pouring in from those supposed to be attending are shocking. If you even managed to get there (as of Thursday night, all flights out of Miami were cancelled) you were greeted by absolutely nothing. One report suggested that upon landing, they were refusing to give anyone their luggage and taken to a beach to “hang” until the tents were ready.

As you’d expect, they’re out of food and we’re approaching a Lord of the Flies situation. Here’s a wonderful drive through the scenic festival site.

Last night, the festival started canceling itineraries as they realized they can’t afford charter planes and today, as you’d expect, they came down with the announcement that the event is postponed. In a cowardly move, they’ve also deleted all Instagram comments describing the horror they’ve caused people. 

Fyre Festival set out to provide a once-in-a-lifetime musical experience on the islands of Exuma. Due to circumstances beyond our control, we must postpone this experience.
