Willie Nelson, Jerry Garcia and Others Received Votes for President Proving Good Candidates Exist

November 18, 2016

They liked to have fun in Vermont and this is absolutely no joke, but it looks like many of them had a blast filling out their choice for President, utilizing the write-in slot for a number of creative votes (including many musicians) uncovered by the Washington Post.

Among them, Willie Nelson garnered seven votes while Alice Cooper and Jerry Garcia both notched two. Bruce Springsteen, Eddie Van Halen, Jello Biafra, Jim Morrison, Jimmy Buffett, Les Claypool, Snoop Dogg and Neil Young all received one vote as well. Someone also just wrote in “Ozzie” so let’s kick one to Ozzy Osborne too.

Unfortunately, Harambe the dead gorilla received zero votes.

Vermont’s three electoral college votes easily went to Hillary Clinton in her losing effort, and it should also be noted that the state is one of 10 (plus Washington, DC) that allow voters to write-in anyone without first voting for a candidate on the ballot.
