Watch Umphrey’s McGee Pay Tribute to Chris Cornell with “Hunger Strike”

May 19, 2017

Always one for a first class tribute, Umphrey’s McGee tipped their cap to the late Chris Cornell last night in Norfolk, VA with a debut cover of Temple of the Dog’s hit “Hunger Strike in the middle of “Der Bluten Kat.”

Led by Kris Myers and Brendan Bayliss, their respective Cornell and Eddie Vedder, the band delivered an impassioned and well-rehearsed version of the song just hours after Cornell was found dead in his hotel room in Detroit. Temple of the Dog, of course, was the supergroup formed in the aftermath of Mother Love Bone frontman Andrew Wood’s death as Cornell teamed up with the members of Pearl Jam for a tribute record that they’d officially tour in support of 25 years later.
