As Craig Ferguson’s run as host of the Late Late Show on CBS came to an end recently, the network has enlisted various hosts to fill in before James Corden takes over permanently. This week, Judd Apatow took the helm and last night welcomed pal Ryan Adams to the show to perform a stripped down version of “Gimme Something Good” with the legendary Don Was on bass. Apatow mentioned that Adams was in his 2012 movie This Is 40, starring wife Leslie Mann and Paul Rudd, with his song “Lucky Now” played live during the final scene of the film.

The performance is particularly emotional as news broke right around this time that Adams and wife Mandy Moore were divorcing after six years of marriage. A statement to US Magazine said, ““It is a respectful, amicable parting of ways and both Mandy and Ryan are asking for media to respect their privacy at this time.” Watch the performance below.
