Watch Pearl Jam Welcome Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith and Josh Klinghoffer in Brazil

March 23, 2018

Pearl Jam is in South America to play Lollapalooza’s outpost festivals in Chile (last weekend) and Brazil (this weekend), and the band stopped by the Estádio do Maracanã in Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday for a show that featured 29 songs in all, including an 11-song encore, plus guest spots from two members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. In other words, a typical night for Pearl Jam.

As JamBase notes, Pearl Jam’s set was highlighted by seven tracks from their landmark album Ten, along with a number of their live staples. Near the end of the set proper, frontman Eddie Vedder dedicated the song “Wishlist” to RHCP, and a few songs later, drummer Chad Smith joined him on stage for “Can’t Deny Me,” Pearl Jam’s recent single.

The Chili Pepper guest spots were just getting started, as the extended encore included guitarist Josh Klinghoffer joining the band for “Alive” before Smith also returned, jumping behind the drum kit for a cover of Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World.”

Below, watch a couple of fan-shot videos from the collaborations and see the full setlist.
