Watch: Pearl Jam Return to the Stage with Electric Pair of Songs on ‘Late Show with Stephen Colbert’

September 24, 2015

Pearl Jam triumphantly returned to the stage, as they tend to do, last night on Late Show with Stephen Colbert as the host dedicated most of his episode to promoting the Global Citizen Festival, slated to take place this Saturday in New York’s Central Park. Colbert welcomed out Hugh Jackman, his co-host for the festivities this weekend, as well as musical guest Pearl Jam, who will join Beyonce, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran and others on the bill. Marking their first public appearance of 2015, the sat for a brief interview with Colbert and then dug into “Mind Your Manners,” the single from their latest record, Lightning Bolt

The finale, brought on by “one more song” chants from the very pro-PJ audience, included the band teaming with the host for Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World” that basically turned the Ed Sullivan Theatre into a full-fledged Pearl Jam show. The only thing missing was Eddie Vedder climbing to the top of the rafters and jumping off (although he did take a brief trip into the crowd). The current architectural integrity of the Ed Sullivan is currently unknown, although given this performance, the foundation seems to have been shaken.
