Watch Paul McCartney, The Roots and the All-Star Cast of ‘Sing’ Go A Cappella on “Wonderful Christmastime”

December 21, 2016

There are a lot of Christmas songs out there, and while some of them may have been tolerable or even decent songs at some point, it’s safe to say that almost all of them are now overplayed to the point of being beyond the point of praise. And while it’s one of the relatively newer classics of the holiday season, Paul McCartney’s “Wonderful Christmastime” has definitely been mall-and-grocery-store-speakered into annoying earworm oblivion.

That being said, it’s the first day of winter, and who doesn’t love a good a cappella jingle? Last night on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy and house band The Roots cajoled a whole host of stars to join them in a rendition of the holiday tune, with even McCartney joining in on the festivities. The cast of new animated movie Sing also helped out, including actors Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson and Seth McFarland, who eventually morph into their animated animal counterparts.

Watch the video below, and just try to not hum the chorus for the rest of the workday.
