Watch: Foo Fighters Team Up With String Section For “I Am A River”

December 19, 2014

After canceling their performance last week due to the arrival of Jimmy Fallon’s new baby, Foo Fighters returned to The Tonight Show last night with a special performance of their Sonic Highways standout “I Am A River.” The anthemic closing track from the band’s eighth studio album featured a string section led by Tony Visconti, who also arranged the strings on the album. The song, written and recorded at New York’s Magic Shop in SoHo, references the neighborhood and city with Grohl repeatedly screaming “I am a river.”

Currently, the band is off the road but will kick off their massive, ridiculous Sonic Highways World Tour on January 15 in Santiago, Chile. The band’s North America tour will begin July 4 with their 20th anniversary bash in Washington, DC with special guests Gary Clark, Buddy Guy and many more.
