Watch Dave Grohl and His Daughters Perform Adele’s “When We Were Young” and More

May 14, 2018

After the adorably awkward debacle created by the Foo Fighters bringing up eight-year-old Little Fonzie for a never-ending drum solo earlier this month, Dave Grohl decided to exert a little more control for his latest surprise sit in by bringing up his own daughters during a performance at the Notes & Words benefit in Oakland, CA, on Saturday.

First, Grohl enlisted 12-year-old Violet, who delivered an admirable vocal performance on a cover of Adele’s “When We Were Young,” with her father on acoustic guitar. The duo then became a trio when Harper Grohl took a seat behind the drum-set mic to help Violet out on backing vocals on “The Sky Is a Neighborhood,” a track off the Foos’ latest album, Concrete & Gold, with Dave belting out his own part.

Of course, there was also some family banter, with the elder Grohl joking that he could only get his daughters to listen to him when he was directing them in a video. Violet and Harper did not disagree.
