Watch Brendan Bayliss Play National Anthem at Wrigley Field
Umphrey’s McGee and the Chicago Cubs have always been attached at the hip (hell, Joel Cummins just penned an essay on his fandom for Cubsinsider.com) and last night maybe the biggest Cubs fan of them all got a chance to play the National Anthem at Wrigley Field.
The Cubs are already in the playoffs with about 15 games to go in the regular season, so their 5-2 win against Cincinnati last night is largely inconsequential. The highlight came before the game as Brendan Bayliss and his guitar serenaded the Wrigley faithful with the National Anthem that included a snippet of “Blackbird” before the tune.
Watch below.
And as it appears, there were plenty of Umphrey’s McGee hometown fans in the audience last night in the city where the band will ring in the new year in December.
@LenKasper Need a shout out for all of the IL @umphreysmcgee fans at the game tonight supporting Brendan Bayliss sing the national anthem!
