Justin Vernon will return as Bon Iver on September 30 with 22, A Million, their first record since 2011’s self-titled. Last night, Vernon and the rest of the band appeared on The Tonight Show for a performance of the beautiful and atmospheric “8 (circle).” 

For this performance, Vernon was accompanied by a background vocal chorus that included members of UK’s The Staves.

“I don’t know how you do it,” host Jimmy Fallon said as he hugged Vernon after the performance. “I have a thousand questions.” The performance marked the first public offering of 22, A Million since Vernon ran through nearly the whole album at his own Eaux Claires Music Festival.
