Watch Bob Weir, Steve Kimock, Aaron Dessner and More Play ‘Colbert’

October 18, 2016

Bob Weir is nearing the end of his Campfire Tour, as he brings an all-star backing band around the country in support of his new solo album of cowboy tunes, Blue Mountain. Before the run wraps up this week, Weir and company stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to share one of the album tracks, “Lay My Lily Down.”

Weir is joined in the Late Show studio by his Campfire Tour mates Steve Kimock, Blue Mountain producer Josh Kaufman,  and The National’s Scott and Bryan Devendorf, along with their bandmate Aaron Dessner, who was originally slated for the whole tour but had to cancel and has subsequently joined Weir for a few shows recently. The collective rolls through the album track, an understated, twangy romp complemented perfectly by the guitar-heavy band and the pluck of Shaw’s banjo.

Watch the performance below. Weir will also appear on this weekend’s CBS Saturday Sessions with Anthony Mason, who moderated an intimate Blue Mountain album preview in New York earlier this year.
