Before soul queen Sharon Jones sadly passed away last year after a long battle with cancer, her label, Brooklyn’s Daptone Records, made a new music video for Jones & The Dap-Kings’ “Please Come Home For Christmas” from their seasonal album It’s A Holiday Soul Party, which was released in 2015. Last year for the holidays, the video was released and, as Daptone noted then, “the song’’s heartbreaking sentiment now feels more powerful.”

The video, made in the claymation holiday style of films like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town, follows an elderly man as he sends a letter to his wife on Christmas. The two are separated for the holidays, and the man encounters several happy couples enjoying the season together before returning to his own home.
