Video: Phish Talk _Fuego,_ Play “Chalk Dust Torture” at Randall’s

Rob Slater on July 16, 2014

This lovely Wednesday begins with two excellent Phish videos including Trey Anastasio and Page McConnell sitting down prior to the band’s Live on Letterman set to talk all things Fuego and pay their respects to the host, who is retiring from the Late Show throne. The duo spoke on the influences for some of the tracks including the title track, why they play two-sets at a show, their love for Dick’s Sporting Goods Park and many more.

Anastasio has a fanboy moment as he recounts playing in the Ed Sullivan Theatre, commenting that he still thinks about The Beatles’ famed performance there every time he plays it. He also talks about his love for being on stage and how the end of the tour is always bittersweet.

Watch the 14-minute interview below.

And check out the legendary performance of “Chalk Dust Torture” from the band’s set at Randall’s Island on Sunday night. Warning: It is 28 minutes long and you should listen at a very high volume. Enjoy.
