Video: Trent Reznor Talks Return of Nine Inch Nails For _Austin City Limits_

Notoriously fascinating Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor will make his Austin City Limits debut tonight, performing tracks from the band’s latest Grammy-nominated album Hesitation Marks. As is customary with ACL performers, the frontman sat down for an interview, which you can view below. The 14-minute talk focuses on Reznor’s decision to reboot Nine Inch Nails after nearly six years away from it as well as his decision to bring the band on television after routinely declining invites to perform on camera.

Reznor, a lifelong Talking Heads fanatic, also talks about their influence in his current incarnation of NIN along with the band’s ridiculous production on their recent Tension tour. You can hear some fascinating dialogue from the frontman and creative genius behind the group about his songwriting process, what inspires him to write, and the restrictions and limitations he feels he dealt with in the early days. All in all, a must-listen.

While you wait for the episode to air tonight, check out the band playing “Sanctified” from their 1989 debut Pretty Hate Machine. Currently, NIN is down to four members, Reznor included, and is on tour in South America following a quick jaunt through Australia with Queens of the Stone Age. Soundgarden and Nine Inch Nails will also join forces this summer for a North American tour.
