Video Premiere: Sean Sullivan “Ready”

January 17, 2014

On January 21, Sean Sullivan will release his new album, Hereafter. Sullivan, the two-time winner of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest as a singer-songwriter, also adds some covers to the mix on Hereafter, as delivered versions of Bob Marley’s “Waiting in Vain,” Stevie Wonder’s “Until You Come Back to Me” and Sullivan’s musical mentor, Jon Hendricks’ “Gimme That Wine.”

As for the song and accompany video, Sullivan explains, “‘Ready’ is a gut-level southern-gothic blues in a lazy ‘Sun Sessions’ feel set against a catchy descending melody line in the guitar key of E. In the studio the band sunk it’s teeth into this song like a mess of Memphis-style ribs. The video was a simple shoot on a scorcher of a day inside a good friends 19th century barn near Woodstock at the end of last July. The mystery woman in the bed silently anchors the whole proceedings.”
