Video Premiere: Rita Marley “One Draw”

March 6, 2014

Shanachie is releasing the 12″ version of Rita Marley’s “One Draw” for the first time in a digital format. Recorded just months after her husband, Bob Marley, passed away, the song’s subject is marijuana and the extended version, contains a tongue-in-cheek dialogue between a “teacher” and “students” with such names named as “Herbie,” “Smokie” and “Mila.” As Marley herself explains, “Marijuana is a herb which helps produce the serenity and insight, it is a healing herb when used properly. As the bible says, ‘Herb is the healing of the nation.’ As Bob said ‘When you smoke the herb, it reveals you to yourself.’ I support legislation of Marijuana, as Marijuana in its natural form is one of the safest therapeutically active substances known to mankind and I know this because I have my One Draw occasionally.”

Today we premiere the official lyric video of the song, which is now available for purchase via iTunes, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit The Alpha and Omega Senior Daycare Center, which is the newest addition to the Rita Marley Foundation and is slated to open in July 2014.
