Video Premiere: Jimmy Lumpkin and The Revival “Every Time I Leave”

February 9, 2017

Jimmy Lumpkin and the Revival’s forthcoming album shares timeless soul from southern Alabama. The music was written in a rural cabin in the marshlands near Mobile, Alabama capturing the spirit of the environment. Lumpkin then recorded with producer Noah Shain in Los Angeles on vintage analog recording gear previously used by Bob Dylan. Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash and others. “That was super rewarding to know that I got to be a part of history with that piece of equipment when I made the album. It means the world,” Lumpkin offers. “To me, analog means you’re capturing things in a way that is real. It brings out that richness in the sounds you’re making. Also you don’t have to be super loud to give it the strength it needs. That’s what I was looking for.”

Today we premiere the official video for “Every Time I Leave,” one of the signature songs on Home, which will be released by Skate Mountain Records.  Lumpkin explains, “‘Every Time I Leave’ is a song about the pain of leaving home and the one I love. It ties home to the one I love in the phrase, ‘My baby is my home.’ This video was filmed in a sanctuary and so the imagery that ‘My baby is my home’ allows the listener to more clearly see that this is something very sacred. The bond between myself and my love.”
