Video Premiere: Hollis Brown “Rain Dance”

March 11, 2016

While recording their latest album, 3 Shots, Hollis Brown were invited to finish a song found in Bo Diddley’s home studio after he passed away. The result is “Rain Dance,” which the group built around two guitar tracks overdubbed by Diddley. Hollis Brown’s Mike Montali explains, “”We wanted it to be a Hollis Brown song inspired by Bo Diddley, not just a re-creation of what Bo did. ‘Mona’ is my favorite (Bo Diddley) song and that was the vocal inspiration.”

Today we premiere a video for “Rain Dance” which is another collaboration, in this case with the group’s fans. Montali adds, “It’s about everyone coming together. It’s a movement song, so we decided what better way to show that than through the voice of our community. We asked our fans to get involved and gave them each a line and let them express it in their own unique way. What we got was an overwhelming response from people all over the world. We received submissions from the Netherlands, Italy, Japan, France, United Kingdom, Australia and all across the USA. Music brings us all together, no matter what age, race, religion, occupation, sexual orientation or personal beliefs, and that’s the message we wanted to get across with this song.”

Hollis Brown has an anticipated vinyl limited edition release, Cluster of Pearls coming out on Record Store Day through Alive Naturalsound Records and a few cool festival dates on the horizon including Savannah Stopover on March 11, the Moonstone Music Festival on May 1 and Firefly on June 16.
