Metallica is crushing the PR game lately. After their controversial slot at Glastonbury, they expertly trolled the crowd with a special event t-shirt sold at the festival filled with negative quotes about their appearance. And now, the metal kings star in the latest “This Is Sportscenter” commercial spot for ESPN and it is simply incredible.

As the story goes, Hall of Fame New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera recently retired from the game. Rivera famously used the band’s “Enter Sandman” as his walkout music, prompting him earning the nickname “The Sandman” and launching the tune into the hearts of athletes everywhere. Now, with Rivera gone from the game, the band is looking for a new gig. In this commercial, they get rejected by Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski (Yes, I had to Google K’s last name) but ultimately end up scoring golfer John Daly’s highlights. ESPN‘s Scott Van Pelt doesn’t entirely approve and Stuart Scott uses Kirk Hammett’s guitar lesson flyer to throw away his gum. All in all, another great installment in one of television’s best commercial series.

Watch the video below and check out some behind the scene photos from the shoot on the band’s website.
