Video: Matt Berninger Jams With Pete Holmes

by Rob Slater on April 10, 2014

The National's Matt Berninger stopped by The Pete Holmes Show for an impromptu songwriting session with the host. Following a brief interview, Holmes and Berninger set out on their quest to write a pop song in the vein of Daft Punk's "Get Lucky." In the end, the duo landed on "Yeti, Get Ready," a harrowing tale about a threesome with, you guessed it, a yeti. This brings me to my next point: Yeti's are greatly undervalued in the songwriting process, but that's another topic for another day.

"Yeti, Get Ready" has all the elements to be a great pop song. It references Cincinnati, chili, sex and has a chorus that's "erotic while still relatable to the tween market." Check it out below.
