Twitter Wasn’t Sure Whether Ryan Adams or Bryan Adams Was Nominated for a Grammy

Rob Slater on February 9, 2015

The Grammys are a fascinating social experiment for so many reasons, and now in the age of social media, the audience is a part of that too. Last night, Ryan Adams (who was seated with Jenny Lewis next to Nas, behind Blake Shelton and down the aisle from Paul McCartney) was up for Best Rock Album for his latest self-titled record. Beck ended up winning, which is perfectly fine as both artists were very worthy of the award. Twitter, however, didn’t quite understand why Adams was up for the award–Bryan Adams, that is.

Ah, yes, the age old Bryan/Ryan Adams confusion struck again in a big way as the emotions ranged from exuberant fans who believed Bryan was destined to beat out U2 and Beck for the award to downright bewilderment over the fact that the Canadian rocker was still relevant in the mainstream musical cycle. The mixup even spilled over onto the PGA tour circuit. This confusion is made all the funnier ever since Ryan took a stab at Bryan’s “Run to You” on his latest tour.

Check out some of the highlights below.

Don’t take gambling advice from this person.

Uhhhhh….

Jill has never heard of Bryan Adams, Ryan Adams or Beck. But hey, she loved that Tom Petty record.

Bryan Adams is still making music, just not that Adams.

Wasn’t nominated, Anna. That’s why.

Progress!!

Liv is fed up with the not-nominated Bryan Adams not beating Beck.

Okay, the Beck/Michael Cera comparison is pretty great and spot-on.

Rock is alive and well regardless of which Adams you’re referring to, Jennie. Not to worry.

And that brings us to PGA professional Jason Dufner. Duf had some trouble too.

A genius idea, Duf.

Thankfully fellow PGA tourmate Zach Johnson was here to help Dufner out. Zach Johnson is your new favorite golfer.
