Today in 1965, The Warlocks Played Their Very First Show as the Grateful Dead

December 04, 2017

It's always a worthy cause to celebrate and today once again we acknowledge the day in 1965 when five crazy kids came together as The Warlocks to play their very first show at the San Jose Acid Test billed as the Grateful Dead.

You've seen the movie and read the book(s) so you know the rest of the story, and here we sit five decades later with the music still rolling along. The Jerry Garcia Facebook page celebrated the occasion with a select quote from the late Grateful Dead guitarist.

And now, let's go back to the days of The Warlocks with a 1965 version of "I Know You Rider."
