The Second Week of Jazz Fest Begins (A Gallery)

May 2, 2014

A busy Thursday at Jazz Fest signaled the start of the final weekend of the event that will ultimately feature appearances from the likes of Bruce Springsteen and Arcade Fire, among others. On this Thursday, however, several key local acts took the stage including Big Freedia, Roosevelt Collier, Nigel Hall and more, lending their talents to their own sets as well as others.

String Cheese Incident brought their Song in My Head tour to New Orleans and were joined by The Soul Rebels for “Black and White.” Stanton Moore Trio, Billy Iuso, Johnn Sansone and more also took the stage that day.

Trombone Shorty put on Shorty Fest to benefit his foundation and brought along his own band, Ivan Neville, Soul Rebels, Dr. Lonnie Smith and many more. On the other side of town at Preservation Hall, the PH Jazz Band were joined by Alabama Shakes. And to cap off the night, Toubab Krewe fed off the energy of the late night crowd at Blue Nile to truly punctuate a full day and night of music. Dino Perrucci shared some images from the festival.
